Magnetothevitational transport: response to time challenges

Abstract

The article substantiates the necessity and possibility of creating a transport system in Russia based on new technology - magnetic levitation with linear traction motors.

It is shown that the spectrum of magnetic levitation technology can provide significant economic benefits to the country. It is proposed the creation algorithm of scientific and engineering developments in the industrial scale.

Maglev: as a new stage of high-speed transport development

Abstract

The article critically examines the domestic experience in developing a high-speed highway project between Moscow and Kazan as an example of implementing the risks of a large-scale railway project. The project of construction of a cargo magnetolevitational highway (GMLM) is considered taking into account the experience of the BCM Moscow-Kazan project.

Introduction: The article analyzes the progress in the implementation of the high-speed highway project and identifies the problems that have arisen. Examples of the difficulties encountered in the implementation of transport with the use of magnetic levitation in the USSR are given. The work of the construction project of the cargo magnetolevitational highway on the basis of which the network schedule of the project's work should be built is described. The evaluation of the characteristics of the project according to various classification characteristics.

Goal: Substantiation of the need to develop a network schedule for the construction of a cargo magnetolevitational highway in the section between the Baltic Sea ports and cargo terminals in Moscow.

Method: Analytical evaluation of the implemented and ongoing projects, as well as the proposed construction project of the GMLM.

Results: The characteristics of the project for various classifications and the allocation of work will simplify the further procedure for creating the project's hierarchical structure of works (ISR), as well as estimating the cost of the project as a whole.

Conclusions: Creation of the project work schedule allows: to determine the sequence of operations of the project; Estimate the cost of individual project activities, followed by a general assessment of the project; To reveal the reserves of time; identify the critical path of the project.

Supersonic land transport in the disturbed environment of the limited space: breakthrough or direct direction

Abstract

The solution of the problem of organizing super-high-speed ground transport can be a combined transport system that presupposes the movement of a transport unit in a rarefied environment of an unlimited space, using the principles of magnetic levitation. The use of such a system will significantly increase the speed of the transport unit up to the supersonic range and dramatically increase, for example, the volumes of cargo transportation due to the following factors:

  1. Reduction of aerodynamic resistance of air during movement;
  2. The lack of direct contact of the transport unit with the lower structure of the path and, as a consequence, the complete absence of friction;
  3. Separate leased lines allow the use of structures to ensure a significant increase in cargo traffic.

Problem statement: study of the basic principles of motion of the transport system based on magnetic levitation in a rarefied environment, modeling of key processes, determination of the main parameters of the new transport system and establishing their optimal ratio, reduced to safe and energy-efficient operation conditions, assessment of possible risks associated with the use of this type transport, both for freight and passenger transportation.

Comparative analysis of variants of magnetic pole collection based on the halbach massif

Abstract

Today, one of the most urgent tasks of modern transport systems in terms of volume growth and quality improvement, freight and passenger transportation worldwide, is to increase the speed of transportation and reduce the cost of energy resources associated with these transportations. These tasks can be solved by introducing high-speed, in particular magnetic-lev- el transport systems. In this paper, we describe and compare the variants of assemblies of magnetic poles based on the Halbach massif. The relevance of the studies carried out is confirmed by the world experience in the use of permanent magnets in the field of magneto-levitation technologies in various branches of science and technology.

The purpose of the research and comparative analysis of variants of assemblies of magnetic poles based on the Halbach massif is to obtain data on the possibility of using such assembly variants in levitation systems of magnetic-leav- ing transport [7], as well as visual proof that mathematical modeling does not allow to fully describe emerging phenomena

In this article, we use empirical methods of investigation.

The results obtained will find their application in the design of the design, which will reduce both the mass-dimensions and the energy consumption of the levitation system. The practical significance of the studies obtained lies in the possibility of applying the principles considered practically in any magnetic-levitation transport systems.

Conclusion: Based on the experimental studies, data were obtained on the levitation forces and the braking forces, which make it possible to draw conclusions about the advisability of using these assembly variants.

Integrative model of a magnetically levitated train's traction force

Abstract

Magnetically levitated train's (MLT) motor's traction force realization (TFR) occurs in the process of electromechanical energy transformation by inductor's and armature's magnetic fields interaction. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to obtain a correct description of such energy transformation. At the present stage, a mathematical and, in particular, computer simulation is the main and most universal tool of process’s and system's analysis and synthesis. At the same time, a radical advantage of this tool makes it even more important precision selecting a particular methodology of the study. Especially important it is for such a large and complex system, which is an MLT. Therefore the special attention in the work is given to the reasoned choice and substantiation of research paradigm's selective features. The results of analysis of existing versions of TFR process model indicate that each of these versions possesses both advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, one of the main results of this study should be the creation of a mentioned process's mathematical model's new version. The created version of the model should preserve the advantages of previous versions, but to be free of their disadvantages. The rationality of application, for the purposes of motor's TFR process research, of the integrative holistic paradigm was convincingly proved in the work. The priority of creation of such paradigm and corresponding version of the TFR process model constitute the scientific novelty of research. The main manifestation of practical value of this research in the opportunity, in case of use of its results, of a significant increasing of efficiency of MLT's dynamic investigations, on the condition that their generalized costs will not increase.

Features of combined effects of physical factors of wave nature on electrified railway transport on technosphere

Abstract

As a rule, the habitat technosphere is affected by simultaneous actions of numerous wave nature physical factors with variable frequency and amplitude. The most vulnerable elements of technosphere include the highly sensitive control systems and human population. It should be underlined that during a lifetime any person is exposed to the combined effects of environmental wave factors, both at home and at work. These effects increase significantly in industrial areas associated with large energy capacity that is time- and space-varying.

The report describes wave nature physical factors impact caused by electrified railways.

The features of costs management at an airline: heoretical basics

Abstract

This article describes cost management’s problem at an airline. The applied methods of theoretical research are the classification method, comparison, generalization, analysis and synthesis. Scientifically based classification of costs is analyzed in the article, i.e. a cost classification is the first step towards improving the cost management. The various features of the classification of costs are educed in the article. The analysis of the classification of costs is performed in three main areas: cost classification for determining a production cost (works, services), classification for management decisions also for control and regulation the activities of the responsibility centers.

Authors identify and describe the typical tasks of cost management at an enterprise and note that all tasks of the cost management must be solved complexly so as improve the economic efficiency of the enterprise. Authors concentrate special attention on the fact that the problem solving set by enterprise expects systematization of the cost management methods’ varieties. Exploring the main cost management methods, authors reveal their advantages and disadvantages. Based on the advantages and disadvantages of each method modern enterprises can use a mixed model of management of the financial costs.

Authors conclude that the main cost management tool is the analysis of the actual cost’s deviation from their standard values which are calculated separately for each responsibility center and cost element.

The article describes the specifics of an airline’s costs. The main content of the research is the analysis of the air transportation’s prime cost calculation technique existing nowadays. The conclusion: based on the specific needs airlines may choose different approaches and methodologies for the calculation of the air transportation’s prime cost.

Economic features of freight Maglev transport

Abstract

In the article considered the implementations of magnetic levitation technology (maglev) in the world, evaluated the advantages of implementation the maglev for all types of transportation.

Introduction: Freight maglev transport is not implemented widely in the world transportation market yet. The most projects in the area of magnetic levitation are focused on passenger transportation. European, Asian and American specialists research, develop and implement technologies, which allow passenger transportation at highspeed, higherspeed and urban lines. Excellent operation and economics characteristics allow maglev to compete with railway transport in all areas: from highspeed to urban.

Analysis: There is the evidence that freight maglev has an opportunity to change the transport logistics market radically in the nearest future. We consider the following approaches to provide it. The first, and main, approach is supposed growth of commodities circulation between Western Europe and South East Asian countries. It requires the stable transport corridor, like The Silk Road, connecting these wide apart regions. Maglev transport has an ability to transport mass cargo 3-5 times faster than railway transport or sea transport, which are the main transport modes for mass cargo transportation. Today there are 2 main transport corridors, which connect Western Europe and South East Asia: Deep Sea and Transsib. Transportation via Deep Sea takes 30-35 days (via alternative Northern Sea Route it is 25-35 days), and via Transsib it is up to 21 days. The second approach is that the demand in reducing the transaction costs caused by freezing of the floating capital in ‘goods in route’ that eventually influences all the areas of national economy.

Results: The obvious economic advantages of freight maglev in comparison with conventional railway transport, accordingly to the calculations, are: capital expenses saving on the stage of infrastructure construction; operations sustainability; energy efficiency; freight transportation speed; investments recoupment and profitability; side effects appearing during operating of freight maglev.

Conclusions: Today, as the world economics shows some crisis developments the basic economics notations are being revised. There is a strong belief that new economics model should be based on decreasing the transaction costs on all stages of production and consumption. The new logistic concept will be focused on increasing the speed of transportation with a use of freight maglev mainlines.
