Abstract

Aim. To develop a computational equivalent circuit for a three-phase transformer with a fundamentally new design configuration and a secondary-winding voltage stabilization function as the traction current of the supply substation varies.

Materials and Methods. Elements of electric circuit and electromagnetic field theory, complex variable theory, and numerical mathematical modeling methods were used to develop the equivalent circuit for a three-phase transformer with voltage stabilization. The Russian ELCUT software package was used to calculate the magnetic fields of the transformer’s magnetic core and windings.

Results. Based on the computational equivalent circuit for a three-phase transformer with voltage stabilization, an analysis of the transformer's magnetic field in rated operation was conducted. Directions for further research into the design of the developed three-phase transformer are proposed.

Conclusion. It has been established that a comprehensive assessment of transformer performance requires additional calculations for two modes: no-load and short-circuit modes. This is dictated by the transformer's nonlinear properties, which depend on the nature of the direct-current traction substation load and its operating mode.
